Mutianyu Great Wall, Underground Palace (Dingling - Ming Tombs) Private Day Tour

This morning, we'll begin our exploration with a visit to the Underground Palace, the mausoleum of the thirteenth emperor of the Ming Dynasty, Zhu Yijun. His reign of 48 years marks the longest leadership in the dynasty's history. Historical records reveal that the total cost of the tomb amounted to an incredible 8 million taels (300 tonnes) of silver, equivalent to about two years' worth of government revenue. Ding Ling Tomb, the third-largest tomb among the Ming Tombs, boasts stunning decorations that far surpass those found in the other two.

After our visit to the Ming Tombs, we'll take a brief 45-minute stop at a Jade Carving Factory before lunch at 12:00 pm. Jade carving is a renowned local specialty, showcasing not only exquisite carving skills but also a rich blend of Chinese traditional cultures.

Following a delicious Chinese lunch, we'll continue our journey to the Mutianyu Great Wall in the afternoon. Renowned for its extensive watchtowers, Mutianyu features 22 watchtowers along its 1.4-mile stretch, surpassing the number found on typical sections of the Great Wall. Additionally, fortifications were constructed on both sides of the Great Wall, complete with inner and outer barriers crenelated with merlons. This unique feature highlights the strategic military value of the Great Wall. For those seeking the highest point, the cable car offers a convenient option (optional).

Finally, we'll ensure a comfortable transfer back to your hotel.
